The same way they stand by all the time when slaughter happens in far away places. Human history is full of massacres. That's one of the things that all leaders count on when they undertake these evil wars. They know human nature. It took years before people started responding to the slaughter in Viet Nam. Most people are concerned with the mundane aspects of their lives, and the killers in their community, not the slaughter of innocent Iraqis. I believe we have killed well over 10,000 Iraqis at this point. That's mind blowing, but you won't hear it trumpted in the mainstream (liberal?) media. Did you know that the U.S. killed over 3,000,000 Indochinese (Viet Namese, Loatians, Cambodians, etc.) during the Viet Nam War (that's our own estimates, perhaps it is even higher)? I'm not trying to bash America, certainly other countries have their own skelletons. But, people need to understand why we are often perceived as the "ugly American" by other countries. When we kill 3,000,000+ IndoChinese over a pointless war and then start another pointless war in the Middle East and kill 10,000+ it affects people's perception of what America stands for.

Re: How can the rest of the world stand idle by and watch the continued slaughter of innocent people by the American military?????????

Well... How do you help an elephant who's sinking into a quicksand? You can try and tie a rope round his neck and pull him out... but chances are, you'll get dragged down with him...
