Rock, I have to tell you I have looked at that animated gif over and over and I can't see the ear or the cap. I have even played the original video over and over and I still can't see them. All I can see is the left small finger of a hand which is presumably holding a video camera. Admittedly, the finger is rather white and certainly whiter than I would say an Arab's finger would be although I'm no expert on Arab/Iraqi skin colors. Momentarily, at the time registered of 28sec, something else does project forward above where hand should be but I can't say what it is. It may even be the wall.
