Yep. Five officers were arrested about a year ago for bribery. Shaking down bars. They were all veterans, 19 years or so IIRC. If you Google HPD corruption, you'll probably have plenty to keep you busy. When I first moved to Houston, Kristel and I took the first jobs that we could get so we could get a lease. Kristel worked at the Subway on Westheimer. The kids working there on the night shift were selling drugs out the back door, and had HPD officers paid off. They were divying up drugs right on the front counter, and patrol cars would drive by and wave. That was my first clue that not all was right with HPD. Derek
