Watergate was the name of the scandal but inside that scandal were many conspiracy theories..........some of them coming from Nixon himself. He suspected many things of many people close and far from him. He was the biggest conspirator of all..............After reading the tapes, I thought he might have been a borderline paranoid schizophrenic or suffered from a degree of delusive disorder.

If you were an insider in D.C. you were aware of many mysterious things that happened when Nixon was in Office. Conspiracies were running rampant at that time.

The "plumbers" had also obtained the psychiatric records of the reporter that spilled the beans on the Pentagon Papers fiasco.

Washington was full of conspiracy theories........it probably still is. Everyone is afraid of what will happen if they say the wrong thing about the Bush admin.

The kind of secrecy and paranoia that surrounded the Nixon administration and now surrounds the Bush administration breeds conspiracy theories.
