Semantics. There is no monolithic entity called "conservatism" with set dogmatic policy prescriptions. Neocons, for example, are supportive of the social safety net, as are many other conservatives and "righties". Milton Friedman, of all people, for example.

I don't consider myself a "conservative", by the way.

I don't see any groundswell to rescue conservatism but there are myriad squeals when Bush is pricked. Funny, that.

Don't care, really. I'd rather concentrate on doing the possible instead of crying in my milk that my perfect scenario doesn't have a snowball in hell's chance of being implemented.
