Its related to the history of the Ghandis and the people who loved them. Her husband was assassinated in office and his mother was assassinated in office. Murali is the expert. I know practically nothing except that the government is in a volital transition period right now.

Sonia Gandhi was and still is the Congress Party President. If she were to become a PM, it would be something akin to Ed Gillespie and GWB rolled into one <gg>. Don't worry, public likes Manmohan Singh (accross the party lines in his case) also, so you don't have to worry about raw deal for SG. You do need to watch out for policiy decisions that communist parties might force the current government to make. There is an India Stock thread and you may get better answers over there.
