The Pledge issue is not a patriotism issue but a church/state issue. It's a mistake to confuse the two. Restore the Pledge to the pre-Knights of Columbus version, the version I learned when I was a kid, and there would be no controversy.

Can you tell me why recruits who signed on in April will have to wait until early next year to get a slot at boot camp at Parris Island, S.C.?

The only thing I know about the USMC is Hooha!
