BB, Re: YOU CAN'T FIGHT THE MARKET, you will lose. On this I fully agree. Re:it is nearly impossible to hold stock for any protracted period and expect long term gains....those days are over. This has yet to be determined. You are looking at a very short window where hedge funds came to prominence in the past few years. If they bet against the prevailing trend they too can lose. There have been many hedge funds which have gone out of business; they are subject to the same rules you and I are, even though it may not appear so at times.
