I'm suspicious that that is Neocon information ops in action-- attack Chalabi and cut him off to make him look more legitimate to the masses. Now instead of just being a carpetbagging, lying, embezzling thief, he can claim to sympathize with other victims of American oppression.

There will be a great deal of protective coloration and posturing in the next few months.
