Karen, if everyone who prides themselves on being more civilized than fascists and terrorists is "set up as paragon"

<<Main Entry: 1 par·a·gon
: a model of excellence or perfection>>

There's a big difference between a paragon and "more civilized than fascists and terrorists." The latter is a majority of people. I'm talking about the vulnerability of a country that defines itself by its virtues, it's specialness, on being a model. It is human natures to poke paragons with a stick, particularly when they are cheeky about it, to experience schadenfreude at their trip-ups. Sure, a paragon with egg on its face is still better than a terrorist by a long shot. I didn't say the response was rational or correct, merely natural and not unexpected and out of our control.
