Dipy, I think you've hit upon the problem: Dumbya hit himself in the head with a hammer once too often. <G>

That's exactly the gist of this whole thing.

Using force only is the idiots way of handling diplomacy. Not to say force is never needed. We have the brains and ability to use force very sparingly to achieve just goals. It should be used in CONJUNCTION with other measures and only as a last resort.

We push people into terrorism the same way we pushed Germany into Hitler's arms. There are a lot of countries with wealth, and democracy and the Muslims have no beef with them. The more brothers and sisters we kill the worse it will get. Ask the Russians.

For years we financed the opposition Taliban in their struggle against the Russians, something I objected to at the time, but something the BIG OL' PATRIOTS here sanctioned or ignored. The Russians thought force would protect them but what they have now are thousands of insane Chechens willing to blow themselves and anyone else up. The more the Russians use force the more they breed insane and desperate Chechens. The exact same thing happened to us in Vietnam.

Of course Iraq will get way worse when the people there find out that only our hand picked representatives will be able to vote during the coming "elections." Like Vietnam that's when this conflict will really get started.

It's not just the war it's Bush's one minded simplistic approach to everything. "We are the biggest kid in school, we get what we want OR ELSE!" Sooner or later other kids fight back. Sometimes they use unfair tactics against the big bully. Sometimes they band together. Let's just hope Kerry gets elected before they start banding together and this war expands.
