Some people do hang onto an idea long after it has been discredited. In the case of Bush, the neocons, and the republicans in genreal,, they have been pushing the idea that you can trust them and liberals are liars for many years. It's got to be tough when they start to realize they have been scammed thoroughly and often.

I remember the same disbelief from 30 years ago with Nixon and Vietnam. It's a whole paradigm shift for them.
