<<I admit the Administration has been doing a lousy job of justifying the war. Bush needs to use his bully pulpit to make some of the points that need to be made.>>

Monday night. It might be interesting.

"I understand how others can brush it off."
I'm very interested in hearing how

We're miscommunicating. I said that I understand how others can brush off the difference, referring to the difference between Saddam having them and having the ability to get them in the future, which was the point of the post. You had brushed that off as have others. My statement was saying that I understand how you might come to do that. I was bonding. <gggg>

admit the Administration has been doing a lousy job of justifying the war.

Indeed. I don't know how many hours I spent here trying to sort through the justification and observing different takes from different people. Communicating the rationale has been, IMO, the single biggest failing of the war effort. I have spoken up for the need for explanations many times, a couple of times just this past week.

Eventually, with the help of assorted pundits and Nadine and others here I finally came to understand the logic of the "beacon" justification. The Prez had blown right by that. And try as I may I still can't understand why so many people were so scared of those junk-yard dog terrorists. And are still scared of them. Boggles my mind.

So, yes, I guess some people need re-education. And some of us need education. I have a feeling, though, that re-education won't work on those who have fallen away. "Fool me twice, shame on me." The message will have to change, at least the tone of it. Bully pulpit ain't the right tone.
