Okay Sam, where then? Should we guess Riyadh? Mecca? Damascus? Or, is indeed America the heart of the place where their message of hate is coming from? If we're opting for the Blame America First thingie because America is so screwed up, can we specify it down to say, Ottumwa Iowa, or Hackensack New Jersey, or is it an all around the whole country affair? I'd really like to know, so we can get to the bottom of this, find whatever solution is necessary. Their own message of hate must surely emanate from one place or another. If it's not from their own backyard, then where is it? If it's the Starbucks over on 4th and A street (across from the BofA), I'm all for nuking it. That place sucks. Just pinpoint us to where the hate originates, and I'm sure it can be fixed.

Yes, Sam,, Iraq is in the middle. It sits between Iran, Saudi Arabia and Syria.

There was no way of dealing with them effectively with Hussein and the US/UN problem with him as a spoiler. The US was stuck in a rancid stalemate in the ME with things getting progressively worse, as 9/11 demonstrated.

Sam, it is the West's belief in reason and democracy and it's resulting success that caused 9/11. You can describe the trail from that right through to the message of all the islamofascist ideologues.

Are we willing to change our way of life to accomodate the violent desires of people who think the earthly paradise - or at least the key to a heavenly one - is a feudal tyranny?

I'm not. I doubt you are, either.

I'm sure you're troubled by the either/or, light and darkness as I present it. But consider: islamofascist and Baathists say our ways of life are incompatible with theirs and violently act on that basis. They do not negotiate.

I'm sorry I can't write more about his right now. I have to go.

Later.
