It is difficult to criticize Israel but not impossible. We cannot forget the rash of Palestinian bombings of two years ago. That was horrid. Israel has a right to defend itself strongly against that.

The other reason is that Jews in the US contribute a lot of the campaign funds. They are very active and put their money where their mouths are. They give to both parties BTW plus Nader in 2000. They're both rightwing and leftwing plus everything inbetween.

There's a scene in BULWORTH where Warren Beatty the candidate tells off the rich Jewish contributors and criticizes Israel. It's his attempt to commit political suicide. That movie sheds a lot of light on the situation.
