It's very plausible for some of them to be totally innocent....you can't just make a broad sweeping statement that they were all Taliban supporters unless you have the proof....which I'm speculating you don't.

I don't, but neither do you, so how do you know they were innocent? The British court refused to look at any evidence the Americans had gathered, so the fact of their release should not declare them innocent to any rational observer. I bet that their British citizenship would have earned them a decent hearing with American troops...unless they had been caught in incriminating circumstances.
