Our "tendency to believe or to disbelieve" is our particular bias and is the result of years and years of experience--or the lack of experience.

And it is good that we do so. When you don't, you "dither." We are a "tabula Rasa" that our parents, schools, and state/churches write on in an attempt to give us wisdom so that we don't have to make all of the mistakes of our predecessors. Not that it works. :>)
