That's exactly what will happen, and occasionally does. Even more so for suddenly active dormant threads, since they aren't excluded from the analysis for (3 or 7?) days. But that's hard to maintain, and outright impossible to manipulate on a very active thread like this or PGWB.

Someone had complained that it was being manipulated by constantly re-SubjectMarking, but it looked like that the counter was not being incremented if the SubjectMark already existed, or if it had been removed that same day. At that point my eyes glazed over, and I dug no further. I never did figure out how bookmarking and posting activity were weighted against each other.
