I'm so used to the behavior model of active addiction that it is kind of nice hearing from someone who did not have the element of an addictive personality. We call drugs a "neat drink" because a drug is a drug no matter how it is delivered.

I agree with you that those who are prescribed narcotics for real pain do tend to take them as prescribed. Due to the bad rap that pain killers have received as a party drug it inhibits many doctors from prescribing them when there is an actual need to do so.

I am not like the ex smoker who will not tolerate a puff of smoke within a city block because I think responsible social drinking or prescribed drugs are acceptable and should be available to those who suffer from chronic and acute pain.

Doctors should make it a point to actively participate in a patients recovery and know the dynamics of addiction. Sounds like your doctor really did a number on you, regretfully.

I understand that the people who really care for our welfare (busybodies) are now concerned that many of us are now becoming Internet Addicts. I wonder what the fix for it will be? Perhaps a "V" chip to limit our usage. (grin)

James
