So you watch "Scarborough Country" and refer to Michael Moore as "stupid" and "ignorant"? Had you gotten tired of watching the DVD boxed set of Hee Haw?

A good one along similar lines while I was living in France was this pseudo-economist, Vivian Forrester who wrote a piece of absolute tripe, "L'horreur économique" - a best seller making her a lot of money in the process.

Hitchins is certainly right about Moore's "qualities".

Michael Moore reminds me of Ignatius Reilly, protagonist of A Confederacy of Dunces [the temptation is great, very great, to say something egregious....I'll resist and be better for it]:

"A green hunting cap squeezed the top of the fleshy balloon of a head. The green earflaps, full of large ears and uncut hair and the fine bristles that grew in the ears themselves, stuck out on either side like turn signals indicating two directions at once. Full, pursed lips protruded beneath the bushy black moustache and, at their corners, sank into little folds filled with disapproval and potato chip crumbs."

For a nice visual, check Moore's doppelganger here. A tiny bit of scrolling down required:
