Jill, generally speaking, I stay away from options because of the relatively high transaction costs and because I'm unable to monitor price changes often enough to maximize this type of investment.

However, I've also experimented with a program my son developed, which is, in my view at least, far superior to other TA programs for determining the direction for a stock. Unlike most TA "formulas" and rules of thumb, this program uses a mathematical filter for separating essential information from noise and comes up with a more reliable basis for predicting price changes. The program also issues buy and sell commands directly to the investor's account, permitting several trades in the course of one day--all done automatically, without further attention from the investor.
The program has achieved about 80 percent accuracy.

Right now, the program seems to be issuing mainly sell recommendations, notwithstanding the fact that the stock is already down. I'm not disagreeing with the program and am acting accordingly.
