One of the guys that I saw talking about oil on CNBC last week was Matt Simmons. Mr. Simmons is an investment banker for the O&G industry and presents one of the most compelling, rational and cogent cases for the imminent onset of peak oil that I have heard yet. If you are not familiar with his work, I would highly recommend taking some time to watch the videos at this site:

When people try to take him to task for his views, he simply says "show me your numbers". His numbers indicate that Hubbert's Peak is very real and on schedule.
