The way I see it is, for everyday purchases one would like something worth 100.00 to 500.00 and this means fractional gold coins...ie 1/4oz 1/2 oz etc. OR a 10 ounce silver bar.

10 ounce silver bars are easily transported, can fit in your pocket, but best of all the recipient can see exactly what they are from the stamp on them 10 oz. troy...999 Fine and so if silver hits 20.00 then the bar is worth 200.00 us, an amount that most would find convenient to use if it ever became necessary.

I would rather carry a 10 oz. silver bullion bar than 1/4oz of gold because I might accidently put the tiny gold coin in a parking meter. They are too small and easy to damage (Canadian Maple Leafs should never ever be touched, but left in its package) whereas it's hard to lose a 10 ounce silver bar and no one cares if it has scratches on it etc.

Just my preference
