There is a Spanish expression I love

La sangre no va a llegar al rio

Literally "The blood is not going to arrive at the river."

But what it really means is that the super-pessimistic scenarios are not likely to materialize. IMO

Lots of problems, terrorism will not go away and even a real estate crash is possible.

But somehow civilization will limp along-life as we now it will continue with changes of course.

There will also be some unexpected positive surprises.

I am not worried about my retirement accounts-just their value.

Claude: Can Canadians opt out of a RRSP?

In the US, an IRA can be liquidated - with a 10% penalty plus full taxes - but you can exit at will.

I don't think US 401k plans can be exited without leaving the employer.

Think we had discussed this once before CC. I have goldmoney, I think it is easier to use than physical gold and easier to redeem.

But unless we are going back to a barter system, and this just is not going to happen, I do not see gold as money. I see it as a sore of value but it only becomes money when you exchange it into some fiat money system.

Goldmoney comes the closest to bridging that gap.....
