<<< Imagine if Dahmer or Manson were also your sons, and the joy riding miscreant got a lot more press for his joy ride than Jeff or Charlie got for their insane murders. Wouldn't you wonder whether something was wrong, whether the emphasis was a bit skewed?>>>>

OOOKAAAAAYYYY. If Dahmer and Manson were also my kids, I wouldn't need to care about the outside world and what they said about the situation.

In that situation, my life is in total chaos. I couldn't and shouldn't care what the outside said, did, or anything else. I really can't blame any one else. I should have taken care of Manson and Dahmer by going outside to get the kind of help I couldn't provide myself at an earlier stage.

I could still do something about my two other kids. Unless I totally give up on life, I still have some work left to do. I have to take care of those two other kids peccidillos in comparison - but in our example they were prostitution and grand larceny.

With Manson and Dahmer, I have to get them off my hands. I am not equipped to deal with it. I still think I can help (I must) help those two other kids.

You don't like the analogy - but to me those kids in the military are our kids. In the same way rape and torture can not be tolerated in my family - no matter what others do.

I am not the only one that feels this way.

Senator John McCain and Lindsey Graham feel the same way. They are not nobodies like me. I believe they have some standing in the community. They feel just as strongly about this (if not more so) than me.

Even President Bush has spoken out against those abuses in the strongest terms possible. None of them link those actions to what crimes others have committed.

There is no one in the administration that have condone those actions in any way - or linked them to anything else. It is a very important issue that has to be dealt with.

It is about our core values and who we are as a people. That is the reason we love our country - because we have core values that can not be tampered with in any way.
