AG, re: I do too but its not happening. I suspect a certain degree of torture (how you and I would view it) has gone on in every war. I suspect the same. Still, you don't decrease the level of torture/abuse by practicing it... you reduce it by rejecting it, by applying long standing principles like the Geneva conventions. The minute you say it's OK for us, the other side will say it's OK for them. And they may or may not have the same level of respect for human life and human pain. Abiding by the Geneva Conventions is self defense. It's showing respect and trying to protect our own soldiers, that we are putting into like situations. The least we can do for their sacrifice is to rein in our emotions and act in a pragmatic way. John
