I only cited history. The risks of putting 100,000 troops into Iraq, a country where the ownership of fully automatic weapons by civialians was completely legal. If the entire population of Iraq turned their weapons against the 100,000 in rural fighting and the use of massive numbers of RPGs and roadside bombs had been employed, the U.S. active forces would have been wiped out. The balance was provided solely by U.S. air power, something the Soviets did not have in Berlin.
