NEW YORK, May 21 (New Ratings) – Analyst Todd Koffman of Raymond James says that global mobile handset sales are expected to be healthy throughout 2005, contrary to market fears.

In a research note published this morning, the analyst mentions that LG Electronics reported robust sales of 3.05 million handsets for the month of April, as compared to 1.79 million handsets a year ago. While Motorola has expressed optimism, Samsung has announced its expectation of a robust June quarter for handsets. Raymond James expects the global sales of mobile handsets to be healthy throughout 2005 on account of increasing replacement rates in developed markets and sustainable growth in emerging markets.>>
