Bill,
I am amazed. I havent spotted one post on zinni's appearance on 60 Minutes. He was damn impressive and talked about wrong war at wrong time because we didnt have the ability to fight it the way we should have in order to pacify the country after victory. The military pulled off a brilliant victory and found out that victory alone was just not enough. I believe zinni thougt we would need about 300k troops to make it work seamlessly thru pacification effort. Now he still sees ways to pull the irons out of the fire. He says that we really cannot afford to lose. He hates the DOD people and claims much of the military does too. So rummy still should go but more importantly we have to fix things. Could require more troops from the US and elsewhere. And the gnawing feeling one gets is that no one is going to help bush and co. and that the best hope may be with a "tough" kerry administration who may be able to get that international support--UN resolutions and nato troops. I dont know what bush can do to make things better. We need a miracle after 6/30 where the insurgents either dry up or are dealt with. Perhaps an iraqi leader will arise. Ah. mike
