Bush is reelected, but the White House has quietly sent word that if Ashcroft wants to leave earlier, that's okay with the President." Tom Raum of the Associated Press speculates on who would stay and who would go if Bush is reelected. His bets: Leaving: Secretary of State Colin L. Powell, Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, CIA Director George J. Tenet. Staying: National security adviser Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge (though not necessarily in those positions.)
