I expect to see that too. Look for any Republican up for re-election in 2004 to start distancing themselves from Bush. Some may go as far as to ask Bush NOT to stage events with them in their states or districts. If Bush slides even more, some may start actively running AGAINST Bush, claiming they're not the neocon-type Republicans. Who knows, some may start sucking up to McCain, and claiming they're McCain Republicans. Why doesn't McCain sieze the day and form the Confernence of Sane Republicans or something?

For what it's worth, www.rasmussenreports.com has been consistently showing polls that the Dems lead in public opinion polls regarding who they'll be voting for Congress this election cycle. Rasmussenreports is suppossedly a conservative source too. If the Dems were smart, they'd take Arriana Huffington's advice and put together their own Contract With America that focuses on helping ordinary Americans and start campaigning on a central theme this summer/fall. Most people won't even notice that they stole the Republican's idea. The Dems need to realize that this might be their year to retake Congress and get their act together to do so. I think people are tiring of Republican shenanigans in Congress, the huge deficits, the pork, the wars. A strong Presidential ticket wouldn't hurt their effort either. The coattail effect is real.
