But you left no provision for intent, which is a critical element of a lie. If Kerry really believed his jobs program would create 10 million, but didn't foresee a Chinese economic attack that limited the growth to 1 single job, was he really lying?

If Bush really wanted to let the states decide gay marriage, but didn't foresee a state court usurping the will of Mass voters, was it a lie?

Intent needs to be considered before you label it a lie.
