No Doubt it keeps internal tensions minimized in the home front. These are all extremely lucky/illegitimate families calling an entire nations resource wealth exclusively theirs. It is at best a corrupt and volatile society/situation. When sitting on that kind of wealth combined with the powder keg of hate it also is - I'm sure you want to get chummy with the most powerful military power. Keeping Bush and his father (past reclaimor of Kuwait) re-elected is a given. At least that's just my take and I'm only guessing. Bob
