Scary stuff. You know it's kind of funny, it used to be the anti-government wackos who warned of such draconian measures. But, when you have people like Franks talking that way, it tells you that people in the corridors of power are thinking that way too! The sad thing is that our civil liberties have slid so much in recent years, that it wouldn't make that much of a difference. I mean, you can now (thanks to the Patriot Act) be arbitrarily searched and arrested without a warrant. How much worse can things get? They have that guy Paddilo from Illinois in jail on dubious charges, calling him an enemv combatant, with no trial or anything? He's an American citizen, this is America, he has rights?!? Apparently not. That case has become one of those cases where it would just be an embarassment if they let him out of prison at this point with no charges, the government would have major egg on their face, which is why the poor guy rots away in prison. He's a political prisoner. Perhaps Kerry will free him?
