All the resources of the FBI and the U.S. Government....
and a "fingerprint error" is made resulting in a wrongful arrest.

If the FBI can screw up like this, on a case this big, how often do you think the Podunk County Sheriff Dept. has made similar mistakes on burglaries, rapes, etc.

Thousands of people have been convicted of crimes solely on the basis of fingerprint evidence.

Mistakes aside, you don't even want to know how easy it is to transfer (plant) fingerprint evidence.
