He needs to keep an eye on the depth-finder as he sails carefully up the channel to avoid running onto a sand-bank, as incompetent captains drunk in charge, with hopeless deck-hands, are known to do. So expect a lot of increases, but first some jaw-boning then a first quarter-point touch to get people pointing in the right direction, without causing a stampede.
