You're the one comparing Saddam and Abu Ghraib, not me.

You're the one justifying Abu Ghraib by saying it's not as bad as Saddam, not me.

I am saying that's as sick and twisted as saying Hitler was good to dogs, so he's not such a bad guy.

Wrong is wrong. Don't try to excuse it away by "context".

It's not at all a good idea to try and erase the distinction between "us" and "them". Really, OBL wins if he causes us to lose our beacon, our Western civilization moorings. I'll join the ad hominem parade (that this thread daily displays) for a moment, and say that those who promote and excuse
that loss are OBL's helpers and fellow travelers.

An excellent, timely, and profound quote:
"This is the destiny of democracy, as not all means are acceptable to it, and not all practices employed by its enemies are open before it. Although a democracy must often fight with one hand tied behind its back, it nonetheless has the upper hand. Preserving the Rule of Law and recognition of an individual's liberty constitutes an important component in its understanding of security. At the end of the day they add to its strength."

Who said that? The Israeli Supreme Court.
