Harvest memories /....
Some years back I and a friend were wandering central India around Aurungabad
during the cotton harvest.
the workers would hang these
Huge burlap bags from the tops of trees
and position a worker over the mouth of the bag
with a rope and a good sized cloth sack attached.
as the oxen pulled wagons ..came in from the field
the tree top worker hoisted the cotton up high
and poured the contents into the
extra large sausage shaped container...
once stuffed..this massive sack
was lowered onto a large truck..
often covering the entire truck...with little room
to see out the windshield...

It was
one of those mind boggling sights one sees in Asia and the 3rd world.
As I waited to fly out of this area..
I noticed that the trucks drove down and crossed
at the end of the air port run way..
It unsettled me to see this occurrence..
I told my pal..
That this was an accident..waiting to happen.....
One week later..
an Indian Air Lines 727
hit a cotton truck...
All souls were lost.
