I got rear-ended by an SUV at about 40mph, I think it was a Suburban, last year. My Camry's trunk was completely flattened and the passenger cage actually buckled the front fenders by moving forward. I was completely unharmed, probably because I didn't even see the monster barreling down while I was at a traffic light, so I didn't tense up. The Camry did exactly what it was designed to do. The driver of the SUV broke his nose on the airbag (not to mention some nasty burns to his arms). I'm glad for his sake that he didn't have kids in the rear seats.
