AP: Intelligence Says Terrorists In U.S. Planning Strike Attack Planned For This Summer, Officials Say POSTED: 7:37 p.m. EDT May 25, 2004 UPDATED: 7:56 p.m. EDT May 25, 2004 WASHINGTON -- The Associated Press has learned that U.S. officials have obtained new intelligence deemed highly credible that indicates terrorists in the U.S. are preparing to launch a major attack this summer. A senior counterterrorism source says the intelligence is among the most disturbing received by the government since Sept. 11, 2001. But the source says the intelligence does not include a time, place or method of attack. The official says al-Qaida or some other terrorists may possess and use a chemical, biological or radiological weapon that could cause much more damage and casualties than a conventional bomb.
