Will 135,000 US troops ever be able to provide real security?

Bush said that things will likely get worse in Iraq. We're already under manned.

If not, will this problem ever be fixed by staying this course?

They might and they might not. It's a crap shoot of huge magnitude. The success of the course, as laid out, depends entirely on the Iraqi police and armed forces to pick up the slack and to keep order, especially in places like Falujah.

It's a huge gamble, but Bush is in a corner because the rest of the world is turning a deaf ear to Bush, and so we must go it alone. What is at stake are many lives of American soldiers. And to try to reinforce the troops with additional American troops on one hand while saying the Iraqis now have sovereignty is going to be a tough sell.
