Ann, It is not the ultimate example of the US military. It is a bad situation that started at the very top and worked its way down. The military does lots of great things. But many people think it is always a handful of troublemakers who cause problems, and it is not. When you have a problem, you have a problem in your chain of command. There is no way specialists and sergeants are committing atrocities without it being known all the way up, though the specifics may not be known to them. I liked your cicada story. No problem with them here in Texas.
