Rightwingers should never bring up "saving lives in Iraq". They're the ones who rushed us into the stupid bloody war to begin with. Kerry was for advanced planning, building a much bigger coalition, waiting for inspections to be finished and only as a last resort using military action. That would have saved us hundreds of billions and thousands of lives and we'd be richer and safer today as a result of it.

Also, Kerry was the first leader who sounded the alarm about our troops not having enough body armor and so forth.

Kerry has fought for troops and vets all his career. He, McCain, Cleland and Hagel have been the soldiers' best friends. Bush on the other hand, cut troops and vets medical benefits right before he sent them to war largely un-prepared. Bush could give a damn about real soldiers. He uses them like pawns. Despite all his photo ops on aircraft carriers he is nothing but a boasting chickenhawk. Iraq is the worst foreign policy decision since Johnson escalated the Vietnam War. Just plain stupid.
