I'll bet Kerry wins the military vote in November, though it will be close. Many volunteer career soldiers are rightwing types. But recent polls in the Military Times show a major and growing dissatisfaction with Bush's (mis)leadership. Also Guardsman don't appreciate being lied to about how long they tours are. Nor do they appreciate the lack of clear mission objectives.

Kerry being a war hero and longtime veteran's advocate could win that vote, especially if he picks a fellow war hero as his running mate, and he might. In Vietnam, after several years of quagmire, most soldiers were not at all happy with the top brass and DC leadership. We are heading in that direction again.
