my problem with you is that you try to turn the norm, that a candidate runs against himself in an incumbent race, as some sort of mandate on Kerry. People don't know Kerry just like they didn't know Clinton. Clinton didn't WIN the race in 92, the elder Bush lost. Same this time. Bush will lose, because he is a failure. Bush's LOSS will not show up in the polls if you ask, "who is better Bush or Kerry"- just like it didn't show when pollsters asked "who do you prefer Davis or Arnold" in california. But then when the vote happened, all the Davis negatives came home to roost. Same with Bush negatives which are HIGHER than Bush positives- this is unheard of! No candidate has higher negatives than positives, that is like a stock with more shorts than longs, rarely happens- UNLESS someone is a complete unadulterated screwup = Dubyaflop.

Bob, if we have bad news in America (which we do), it's bad news made worse by Bush. Clinton had a 500 pt. one day stock market drop. He and Rubin came out, calmed the markets, and turned what could have been very bad news into a blip. Bush doesn't have that kind of capability.

Kerry is a terrific candidate. He's just laying low letting Bush defeat himself for now. Kerry has also been busy organizing and raising a staggering 115 million in only three months, outpacing Bush for once. Give Kerry some credit. He is a very smart candidate who knows not to interfere when his opponent is commiting suicide. Also, he knows not to try and peak too soon the way Howard Dean did. Kerry wants to peak the day before the election. He will be building up to that.
