I'm sometimes sad, but more often mad. We're supposed to have a system of checks and balances that won't allow things to get this bad. Nixon was forced to resign, lest he be impeached, by both Democrats and Republicans. Clinton WAS impeached, but not convicted, by partisan Republicans for far less an offense than Nixon or Bush. Now we have Bush, who has to be the worst President in my lifetime, with no chance of his being impeached due to partisan Republicans. Even if he were impeached, the rot runs through his entire administration. We're screwed until the election.

Our situation makes me very sad. I have a lot of Republican friends. I am not against Republicans. But Bush not only lied to us, he really let us down. There are some things he and Cheney have done which are so far beneath an honest responsible democracy that I cannot talk about them without feel very sad for Lady Liberty. It's like having your father lie to you or cheat you. It's very hurtful. Bottomline, we simply have to get these people out of power. They cheated and hoodwinked to get into power and now they're proven themselves for what they really are. I'll let historians psycho-analyze Bush. But frankly, I think he might not be all there. I believe Cheney is twice as powerful as Bush. The secretive wizard behind the curtain representing who knows who and threatening anyone who dares expose him. I believe even Bush Sr. is a bit hrrofied about what's happened.
