If you like WWII, try, The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors : The Extraordinary World War II Story of the U.S. Navy's Finest Hour. amazon.com

I consider the Action off Samar during the battle of the Philippine sea to be the most outstanding example of our Navy in WWII, if not ever.

Just finished Ghost soldiers about the 6th Ranger Battalion recovery of the survivors of Bataan Death March. (Wonder where that fits in relation to the Iraq prisoner abuse event?)

Hi Don,
The Special Forces Assn chapter I belong to has three OSS members who were stationed in China/Burma/India but fought in many locales.
They worked with Merrill's Marauders in Burma and also the Ranger unit that rescued 500 survivors of the death march.
A story that is not widely known is six OSS members parachuted into Bataan to lead the rescue.
They have their own convention every year and have told me many stories about WWII including Bataan combat and rescues.

War is ugly and from a historical perspective we ain't seen nothin yet.
