they agree with the Arabs that Israel is responsible for all the problems in the Mideast, and are perfectly willing to keep pushing it until it falls over a cliff, just to see what happens.

I have been speculating on why we do the things we do with Israel. I think the fact that all of our Foreign Service people are indoctrinated by our ME departments in college has something to do with it.

We don't understand how much of what we do is personal. The Arabs have a culture that is designed to invite the stranger in, and make him feel welcome. The Israelis are much more "tough and gruff." I suspect this affects our decisions more than we realize.
