Great. Now we have official training in how to beat someone to a pulp. I feel like I fell asleep for a hundred years and woke up in a different America. Has it really only been 3 1/2 short years?

Baker said the soldiers beat and choked him, stopping when they saw he was wearing parts of an Army uniform. Did we ever really understand that we are living amongst savages pretending to be (sorta) civilized? It's interesting how easily even the (sorta) educated (sorta) free American can turn into a jackbooted thug when given the opportunity. What's really interesting is to hear the savagery in people's comments. The right-wing fanatical extremists in the media (not just the warmonger hosts but their equally uncivilized callers) exhibit the same lack of character in their words that these soldiers exhibited physically. Is there any doubt that some detainees were beaten to death in Iraq? IMO, this period in our history will go down as another example (like McCarthyism, slavery, civil rights struggle) of the US going wayyyyyy off course into thuggery. ====== Hey! Afghanistan, thanks in large part to us, is now producing a bumper crop of opium. 3/4s of the world's supply this year. How much of that will go to AQ who is, apparently, finding it easy to raise funds thanks in large part to us? Therefore, Bush is helping AQ attack us again. People who don't get this equation should go live in a bunker with a lifetime's supply of Twinkies and leave the civilized Americans alone.
