That is, unless they WANT Bush re-elected.

Of course Al-Q wants him - he's their best recruiter.

I mean, do you really think they are afraid of him?
They declared a war - and he accepted. He made incredible PR and started wars in Islamic countries. It's a dream scenario.

<<<And maybe I'll be proven wrong, but I think any such attack would backfire on Al-Qaeda.. That is, unless they WANT Bush re-elected..>>>

I dont think the actual operatives care why they blow something up as long as it is big- although OBL might say it was to get Bush -something that would sound impressive.

Terrorists screw up a lot, they overdid the WTC thing and got America all riled up, but they missed Congress who then approved chasing OBL to He%% and gone.

One of their Spanish bombs failed to explode which led to a phone number which led police to track them down and kill them.

Now maybe they try for an oil refinery in Houston but one is not enough- so they may try for 10 which would increase the odds of getting caught by a factor of 10 or even 100.

I too seem to have a virus, staying close to bathroom.
Probably got it from downloading an E-mail (hahaha)

Hawk, if Osama and co make a major attack on the USA, such as a noocular bomb in downtown San Diego, or Washington DC, or several simultaneously, [their modus operandi], I agree it would be a mistake.

<The question is whether this will be a WMD attack, similar to what was planned in Jordan, or conventional>

I don't think they'd be better off with Kerry, who I believe has in person killed and destroyed in Vietnam, so he would easily get back in the saddle if the need arose. I suspect he'd be even more enthusiastically militaristic.

It might be fun to conduct a nuclear bomb attack on the USA, but strategically, it would not achieve the goal of getting them out of Saudi Arabia, Israel etc and retreating to the USA. It would cause the USA to go bananas. It would be a big mistake.

Better to whittle away at them in foreign lands, so the USA soldiers just want to go home and the public questions the point of the process. Bringing it on in Iraq, one soldier or foreigner at a time, is better than enraging the giant.

I think the verdict is still out as to whether the American people believe Kerry has what it takes to not only protect us, but to also carry the battle back to the enemy.. Namely those states that have financed, harbored, or at least tacitly supported, Islamic militancy and/or terrorism..

I see, the enemy is (drum roll) those states that have financed, harbored, or at least tacitly supported, Islamic militancy and/or terrorism.

Which nation state shall we carry the battle to first? Germany? France? Saudi Arabia? Jordan? I've got it, why don't we attack the nation that gave them flight training, that allowed them to travel freely within it's borders even though it knew they were terrorists, that sent plenty of money to them, hell, it even had it's women giving them "special" benefits in Miami; let's attack ourselves.

I forget, did you say you weren't an idiot, or did you say you were?

Well, no matter, you never were very good at self-assessments.
